Teaching Idi Football

It took four shots before we could convince our guard Idi to smile for this picture. We're not sure why, but our Tanzanian friends and colleagues seem to always prefer putting on a somber face for the camera.

Duncan really misses playing ball, any kind of ball. And while I'll occasionally toss a football around with him--he's still a bit desperate for the company of sports-loving guys. He's taken to teaching Idi how to throw and catch a football (pardon me, American Football) in our front yard. Idi's eyes were wide when Duncan first showed him the ball. "Is this hockey?" he wanted to know.
