mwanza's newest fancy hotel

You can believe us when we tell you that Mwanza is not one of Tanzania's top 10 tourist destinations.

It's distinction as Tanzania's "second largest city" should also be qualified with the fact that there's one stop light in town, which takes 15-20 minutes at a time to change, and was installed about a month before we arrived here.

So why does Mwanza need a shiny and very fancy new hotel? We don't know but we went to check it out for ourselves 2 weekends ago and as Cecily said, the whole place feels totally, outrageously inappropriate for humble, dusty Mwanza.

  4. so my question is... how was it getting to the hotel?! :) if i got there, i think that i'd beg steve to let me stay there instead. :P jk... well partially. i was only in mwz for a few days, but in my short time there, steve's cook was suffering from malaria and we visited an orphanage that was later part of an attempted robbery. you two have been there much longer. i'm encouraged by the time you have spent there already as a couple and we are thankful for God's protection over you both.

  5. CB: the hotel is actually pretty close to the airport, so from where we are, about a 30 min drive? thanks so much for your prayers and encouragement. We NEED 'em! =)
