Try as we might, there’s no escaping the phases of culture shock. Though It’s definitely affecting one of us more than the other. Guess who.
Sometimes it’s possible to cycle through two or three different phases in one day. i.e. Going from feelings of “Hey, life isn’t so bad here,” to “Life here is driving me crazy, let’s go home NOW!”
But we continue trying to celebrate seemingly ordinary joys, like baking. There’s just something about baking that helps to put the world right again. And as we've posted before, maybe it's just the satisfaction of seeing something through from beginning to end, especially if that something is yummy and smells good.
Like banana bread. Which happens to turn out fabulously here because though the bananas do not look as perfect as the ones back home, they are so much more tasty.

Joy is in the small. Thanks for sharing. All the very best.
