The Love of Getting Stuff Done

(For those who will find this redundant, bear with me!)

We had been warned about it.

About needing to accept the fact that it can be hard to “get stuff done” in Tanzania--at least on one’s preferred schedule.

But we are people that love getting stuff done, and by we I mean especially me. 

So as I’m on a fiendish Work Finding Mission, going around Mwanza trying to “interview” different aid and community organizations, you can imagine my jaw-clenched frustration when meetings are postponed at the very, very last minute, or your husband gets sick, or taxis break down, or the Important Person you were hoping to see has suddenly gone to Dar es Salaam for 10 days or has decided to take a long lunch...

I can hear the voices of our pastors at Redeemer very clearly, 

“You know you’ve made an idol of work (or busyness or productivity) when you feel inordinate angst at not being able to work.” Inordinate angst, that’s me. 

Fine. 

You’re the one who sent us here God!

You’re the one who created us to work, surely not all of this desire to be productive is idolatrous!

So let me do something fruitful in this place.
