We shouldn't complain because we've had water all week, while many people in Mwanza, and especially in our immediate neighborhood had little or none. Some locals came to our home asking our guards to let them fill up their buckets. Happens every year around this time, friends told us. Which again brings home to us the burdensome reality people in developing countries face each day simply trying to access and collect clean water.
The short rains are coming soon, which should mean that the water situation will improve. But rainy season also means malaria--another major child killer in this region. There's always something..
So this weekend we'll work on defending our home against the mosquitoes. We're having our house fumigated tomorrow and working on patching up all the screens and doors.
Life here is not all trial and inconvenience, it's not easy, but there are good things to be thankful for; we now have a home fellowship group for prayer and encouragement, got our first package in the mail from Duncan's parents, and have not been sick in over a week!
God is good to us!
