On April 7th, I had blogged (Where Have The Patients Gone) about the Babu phenomenon in Loliondo, Tanzania.
People are continuing to flock there by the thousands in hopes of being cured. At our clinic, we have had quite a few children come back in very sick conditions, after being treated by Babu and stopping their antiretroviral medications.
It is frustrating for us, since the government is not doing anything to intervene on the situation. As a matter of fact, even some high profile government officials have visited Babu. People continue to drink the herbal medicine with false hopes of being cured. Many people end up in worse conditions, since they stop taking their meds.
