Last Saturday, the Baylor team conducted an HIV testing event in Magu city, which is an hour drive east of Mwanza. The event was coordinated in partnership with Magu District Hospital.
The day started off slow, with just a few children trickling in to test. Then, one of the staff from Magu Hospital had the brilliant idea of placing a megaphone on top of a car, and driving around the city announcing the event and of course that we would include a free soda. Several hours later, the children and families began pouring in.
Over the span of 7 hours, we tested a total of 214 children and adults, with 9 having positive results and 4 babies found to be exposed. We were all exhausted by the end, but thankful for a successful event.
